With the surprise news from Kennedy, T’Mari was still in a daydream world as she tapped her comm badge. “Rael to Tevik, may I see you in my office when you have a moment please?”

Tevik was in the Operations office finishing some data entry work when T'Mari's call came in. "I shall be there shortly. I am finishing up some data entry work."

A few minutes later, his work completed, he stood outside T'Mari's door. he was curious to what she wanted to see him about and the only way to satisfy that curiosity was to press the door chime to announce his presence. Which he did.

T’Mari was in a world of her own when the chime snapped her out of it, taking a calming breath she walked over to the door to greet Tevik. “Tevik, thank you for coming I err…I have something to tell you.” She motioned him to a seat waiting for the door to close before saying anything else.

Tevik did as T'Mari asked. Taking a seat on the sofa, he studied her. "You appear nervous T'Mari, have I done something to displease you? Please tell me so I may rectify this as I do not wish there to be issues between us that discussing them can clear up." Yet even as he spoke T'Mari's nervousness was causing him to become nervous.

“Ohh err no, it’s not you.” T’Mari smiled as she let out a calming breath. “I’ve just come back from Sickbay. It seems that I’m….pregnant!” She gave him a curious look. “Six weeks.”

Tevik sat surprised by T'Mari's announcement. "Pregnant? Six weeks?" He repeated before he stood up and moved to her. His arms came up and around her in a warm hug, "This is most unexpected and surprising news. I must admit I am however pleased by it. I believe you will make a wonderful mother."

T’Mari breathed a sigh of relief as she hugged Tevik. “I went to see Kennedy because I was worried I hadn’t gotten pregnant at all. When she told me it came as a complete surprise! I’ve no doubt our parents will be thrilled.”

"I can say with certainty that they will. I take it by your smile and body language you too are most happy with this news. What do we need to do to prepare our quarters, what can I do to help you?"

“That’s a good question” T’Mari shrugged her shoulders. “I never expected to get this news, I’m completely unprepared!” She paused. “I guess we need to start by planning what we’ll be needing. I don’t think I’ve ever been so unprepared in my life.”

"It is a journey and experience we will share together." He shook his head, "You are not unprepared, the news was unexpected. Now we can plan and make a list of all we need. Thankfully we have time to prepare. I would also be prepared for some outside assistance from our mothers."

T’Mari nodded. “I know just who I can get some tips off of, but I don’t want to be pestering people. As for what we need I think we’ll start researching that and making some notes.”

"You will not even have to ask. The advice will be freely and often given. As for researching and making notes, I believe that is a forgone conclusion." Tevik paused and looked at T'Mari. "Such wonderful news needs to be celebrated with a special meal, Is there anything you would like to have?"

“Good question” T’Mari smiled. “I think something Vulcan would be nice, I have a lot to learn about what it is to be truly Vulcan and I think now is a good time to learn.”

"It is good you wish to learn more about your Vulcan side and I am pleased to help you. As for a Vulcan meal. how would you feel about a meal consisting of Vulcan jumbo shrimp, some sweet bread, stir fried vegetables and dessert?" Tevik asked. He wanted T'Mari to experience and enjoy a Vulcan meal.

T’Mari nodded. “It sounds good, I want to make sure I eat a healthy diet.” She grinned. “Not that I’m giving up eating chocolate!”

"I am pleased you agree and no do not give up eating chocolate. I understand it is an outstanding comfort food. I will bring you boxes of it if you so desire." he looked at her, "if you have no objections, I will begin preparing the meal."

“No objections at all” T’Mari smiled. “It’s so silly, I love children yet I feel so unprepared now. I feel like I should pick up as many books to read as I can so I know what to do.”

"I do not find it silly at all. Quite the opposite. I believe it shows that you will be an excellent mother for our child for you want the best for it. I will assist you in every way for I also want the best for our child." Tevik replied. "You know this is quite exciting news."

T’Mari looked at Tevik curiously. “You said exciting? I thought purging emotions meant you didn’t feel them? That’s one of the reasons that I didn’t purge mine.”

Tevik nodded, Your statement is correct. Let me explain, Vulcan have emotions, they are just suppressed. However in some case where the news is exciting, the emotion we are experiencing rises to the top. hence my saying exciting news. I do hope I have not disappointed you by showing mine.'

“Not at all” T’Mari smiled. “It’s a part of you I’ve never seen before. At least not this much, I like it!”

"It pleases me that you find favor in my showing of emotion. I shall endeavor to keep pleasing you in this and other ways T'Mari." Tevik replied in an even tone though his eyes seemed to sparkle as he did so.

T’Mari couldn’t help but smile. “I wasn’t fair to you for years, not because of who you are as a person but because our bonding was the choosing of our parents. I should have given you a fair chance years ago. I’m glad that we’re together now.”

Tevik accepted T'Mari's statement. " I understand your past trepidation and your reason for it. Let us not think or dwell on the past. Instead let us move forward as we make and explore a shared future together. A future where we are equal partners."

“That sounds wonderful to me” T’Mari nodded. “Anyway I guess I should be getting back to my files, I have plenty to keep me busy!” She smiled.

"I see." Tevik replied his voice even though disappointment shown in his eyes. "I was hoping you would like to get some lunch with me."

“Ohh I completely forgot the time!” T’Mari grinned. “Lunch is a necessity, I’m eating for two now after all.”

"Yes, it is and you need to keep up your strength and as you just said you are eating for two." Tevik replied. "As for lunch, do you have a particular location you wish to have lunch?"

“Not in particular, but saying that how’s about somewhere that does a descent Vulcan meal? I need to indulge more in our heritage.”

"While learning and indulging in our heritage is noble your health is equally important and you eat what pleases you within reason of course." Tevik replied. "In regard to a Vulcan salad, I believe the officer's mess would be able to provide you with an acceptable one."

“Then let’s head there, I promise I won’t just swap to a new diet. I will endeavour to keep stability for our growing child.” T’Mari smiled.

"No need to promise T'Mari. I believe you." Tevik replied as he held his hand out to her and extended to fingers for her to take to show them as husband and wife, a bonded couple.

T’Mari grinned as she took his hand. “I like this, and I could definitely get used to us being seen as the couple we were always meant to be.”

"I agree. It is a most agreeable sensation, one I too could get quite use to. It would please me very much if we were seen as a couple." Tevik replied.

“We will be” T’Mari smiled warmly. “I will make up for all the time I never gave you a chance, I know now that was a mistake on my part. I want to spend as much time with you as I can. After all we have the rest of our lives together.”

"Do not dwell on the past. it is over and cannot be changed. I do not blame you in how you felt. I am relieved that you gave us another chance. Focus on the future, our shared future as we become parents and transition from being a couple to becoming a family. As you said we have the rest of our lives together."

T’Mari nodded. “I am very much looking forward to it Tevik. Very much indeed.”

Tevik nodded, "As am I. A shared life as we face new challenges as we pursue dreams of a happy life."

“No dreams Tevik” T’Mari answered. “This is my dream, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
